Imagine This
A day spent together as a family, free from distractions—no phones, no work—just enjoying each other's company. At the end of the day, you’d have photos to look back on and remember those simple, cherished moments. Think about your usual family routine: do you start your mornings slowly, with everyone waking up gradually, or does it feel like a chain reaction when one person gets up? Every ones story is different so your family photos should be too.
Now What?
I’m thrilled that you’re interested in a documentary session with me! Here’s how the process works: If you're a first-time client, we’ll begin by scheduling a phone call to discuss what moments are most meaningful to you and how much coverage you’d like, whether it's 2 hours or up to 8 hours.
Together, we’ll choose a date and location that feel right for your session. I’ve also included some tips further down the page to help guide you in picking the perfect time and place.
Once we’ve gone over the basics, I’ll send you a short questionnaire to dive into the little everyday moments you’d love to capture. After that, I’ll send over a contract and an invoice for a 50% deposit. Once everything is signed and set, you’ll be all set to go!

a time that works for you
When scheduling a photography session, think about your daily routines and the moments you want to preserve. For example, about a year ago, my son used to wake up before me, and when I walked out of my room, he'd jump up, squeal with excitement, and give me the biggest hug—every single day. He doesn’t do that anymore, and unfortunately, I didn’t capture it on camera. It’s a memory that lives only in my mind.
Consider moments like this when choosing a time for your session. If your family enjoys morning routines, such as waking up together, or if you have evening traditions like playing games or taking afternoon swims, plan the session around those times. These photos aren’t just for today but for the future. How often do we scroll through old pictures of our kids, reflecting on how much has changed? By capturing these moments now, you create a visual memory for years to come.
Location
Select a place that holds special meaning for you and your family—most of the time, I recommend your home. It’s more than just a setting; your home plays a role in your family’s story. Many people worry, saying things like, “My house isn’t photo-worthy,” or “There’s too much clutter.” But that mess tells its own story. Dishes in the sink reflect shared meals, and kids' clothes scattered around remind you of moments when they tried on multiple outfits before settling on one. What you might see as clutter, I see as signs of a loving, busy family truly living in their home.
Day of the session
I will arrive and start shooting immediately. Preparing of breakfast, the rubbing the sleep out of the kids eyes. Everything. Of course I will interact with you guys because how weird if I didn't say a single word but I won't tell you how to pose or what to do. You just live life. As for getting that "Christmas card photo" we can do that too either at the beginning or the end of your session.
