When Brianna found out her entire family would be in Orlando at the same time, she knew it was something special. With busy schedules, different cities, and so many moving pieces, they don’t get to be together often. She wanted to capture the moment — but in a way that truly reflected who they are.

The idea of gathering everyone for stiff, posed photos didn’t sound appealing. The grandparents didn’t want to stand and smile for the camera, the youngest members of the family had no interest in holding still, and honestly, no one wanted to spend their precious time arranging for “perfect” pictures.

Instead, Brianna wanted photos that felt like them. She wanted the laughter, the spontaneous hugs, the inside jokes, and the way her family naturally interacts when they’re together.

That’s where documentary family photography came in. Rather than spending the day posing and worrying about where to put their hands, they spent it enjoying each other’s company.

I simply followed along, camera in hand, capturing the moments as they unfolded.

We documented it all — the grandparents telling old stories in the living room, cousins chasing each other in the backyard, siblings cooking dinner together, and the shared laughter that filled the house. There was no pressure to “perform” for the camera.
